join.tech operates as a small and focused engineering practice.

Engagements typically begin with discovery, architecture reviews, inventory assessments, migration preparation or technical due diligence.

Depending on the needs of the organization, engagements may evolve into implementation support, integration initiatives, technical leadership roles or long-term advisory relationships.

The objective is not to build large delivery teams, but to provide independent technical judgement, practical engineering support and sustainable solutions for complex environments.

join.tech is led by David Schmid and supported by a small operational structure covering administration and business operations.

This setup allows engineering engagements to remain focused, responsive and independent while ensuring reliable operational support behind the scenes.

The company intentionally remains small, senior and selective. The emphasis is on clarity, continuity and useful technical work rather than growth for its own sake.

David Schmid

David Schmid is a software and security engineer with experience spanning payment systems, cryptographic infrastructure, software architecture, system integration and technical leadership.

His background combines engineering, security, compliance and operational perspectives gained in financial services, logistics, research and public-sector environments.

Throughout his career he has worked across multinational organizations, regulated environments and independent consulting engagements, helping organizations understand, modernize and transition complex systems.

David has worked in payment and financial infrastructure environments at Worldline and PostFinance in Switzerland, with a focus on security-sensitive backend systems, cryptographic infrastructure and compliance-relevant engineering.
